REGISTRATION FORM

shirt (noun) - a garment for the upper part of the body, typically having a collar, sleeves and a front opening.

blouse (noun) – a loosely fitting garment resembling a long shirt.

Let's take those mundane sounding garments and make them special. Start with a basic shirt or blouse pattern and master the techniques for perfect collar points, collar stands, plackets, sleeves and cuffs. Then, play with design details to make each new shirt a work of art.
Try some dart manipulation - move the darts, create princess seams or change the darts to tucks or gathers. Use contrived lines to change necklines, hem shaping, yokes and bands. Learn to make a hidden button placket, change a collar and add mystery binding, piping or ruffles. Draft sleeve variations and add details at the wrist with cuffs, bands, trim and buttons.

One great fitting shirt or blouse pattern can be made over and over and always look new. Bring several pieces of fabric – you will want to try all these fun details - or shop in Portland's great fabric stores. (see "Optional Shopping Day" below)

Space is limited to 6 students to ensure individual attention. A $50 non-refundable deposit will reserve a space for you.

The workshop will be held at the Fairfield Inn & Suites - Portland South/Lake Oswego, located at 6100 SW Meadows Road, Lake Oswego OR 97035. Accommodations are available at the Fairfield Inn or other nearby hotels. Contact the Fairfield Inn directly at 503-670-7557 or 800-228-2800, or visit www.fairfieldinn.com to make a reservation.

You may bring your own sewing machine or arrange with Marla to borrow one. A serger will be available for your use in class as well.

Workshops begin at 9:00 AM and finish each day at 5:30 PM. The classroom is available to you in the evening and will be locked securely overnight.

Lunch is included each day. There are many restaurants within walking distance for dinner on your own.

OPTIONAL SHOPPING DAY

An optional shopping day on Wednesday, March 16, will give you an opportunity to visit many of the fabulous fabric stores in Portland – Josephine's, Fabric Depot, Mill End and others.
